Nanny cams are usually hidden in common household items such as radios, wall clocks, vanity mirrors, tower fans, air fresheners, alarm clocks and more. Some of the newer models have DVRs built into them for easy recording and playback. Older models require a separate DVR to record or TV or monitor or view.

When most people think of a nanny camera they think of a small hidden camera in the home that is used to keep an eye on the "nanny" or your kids babysitters. They certainly can do that but there are other uses too.

A nanny cam can give parents confidence in the nanny or sitter and maybe a little peace of mind. For legal reasons it is not okay to record audio in many states but video recording is legal in all 50 states.

1.Nanny cams can record anything in its' field of view. It could be what your older kids are doing when you are not home, watching in home workers like plumbers, electricians, etc., or keeping an eye on caregivers for older relatives which is becoming a huge use.

2.As a bonus a spy camera can be used as a great tool to catch the bad guys who might break into your house. Nothing is better in court than visual evidence.

3.Another huge use of "nanny cams" is to catch an unfaithful spouse doing something. Private Investigators are finding big increases in their business from infidelity cases.

4. A so called 'nanny cam' can be used as a security camera in an office or business setting too to catch someone doing something they shouldn't be doing.

There are so many uses for nanny cams that they aren't just for watching kids and nannies any more. When are you getting one?

If you choose to tell your nanny that they are being recorded they may feel they are not trusted and choose not to work for you. On the other hand most don't mind. It is best to be upfront about it.
