Since people are still unsure of what the future holds for them financially (some are probably even casualties of a massive layoff), they are finding it easy to resist the urge of upgrading their present computer system. They'd rather sit back and wait until things go back into equilibrium, fearing that what they buy now might just gather dust on the shelves. The second reason has a more technical basis. The peculiar thing about this release is that it is expected to be a huge turnaround from the colossal failure that preceded it. Windows 7, which is expected to be released early next year will soon replace what was probably the worst Windows version ever - Vista. People can't wait to get rid of Vista and move on to Windows 7. Unfortunately, they'll have to contend with Vista for at least half a year. Buyers know that if they bite on a desktop computer sale now, they'll be stuck with Vista - unless they intend to upgrade again after only 6 months, which is highly unlikely. On the other hand, 6 months more is still a long wait. What if the Windows 7 launch is delayed? Worse, what if it is delayed indefinitely? There is however one big reason why dealers are still tempted to pursue wholesale desktop computer deals - the price. Computer prices have been dropping considerably over the last couple of years, with an average of 15% per annum. The mere thought of flipping it once the prices go back up is enough to tickle their appetites. Therefore, dealers should weigh between the risks and the benefits before buying desktops wholesale.
